Avionics Technician - Operations

Position Overview

AAIC is seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to join our team within an FAA Part-145 Repair Station environment. This position is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and overhaul of avionics and electronic aircraft components in accordance with approved technical data, company procedures, and FAA regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced working with avionics systems in a production or repair station environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and test avionics and electronic components.
  • Perform functional testing using approved test equipment and procedures.
  • Interpret CMMs, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Perform soldering, component replacement, and circuit board repair as required.
  • Complete work in compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, and quality standards.
  • Accurately complete work orders, inspection documentation, and repair records.
  • Identify discrepancies and communicate findings to supervisors or engineering.
  • Maintain proper handling of ESD-sensitive components.
  • Ensure proper care and calibration of test equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with FOD and safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement and production efficiency initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working with avionics systems, electronic assemblies, or aircraft components.
  • Associate’s degree or certification in Avionics Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience with electronic troubleshooting and testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented production environment.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and work order tracking.
  • Strong communication skills for documenting work and interacting with team members.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings or weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of CMM procedures and aviation regulatory requirements.
  • IPC solder certification or equivalent electronics repair experience.
  • Experience with avionics test benches or automated test equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Good manual dexterity for precision electronic work.
  • Ability to work with small components and fine wiring.
