A Legacy of Reliability
As a company, Sunvair first got off the ground in 1955—and we’ve been elevating maintenance, repair, and overhaul services ever since. Over the years, we’ve grown our team of employees, acquired new facilities, and expanded our services to better meet our partners’ needs. Yet, we’ve remained focused on our core purpose of solving operators’ toughest challenges through engineering and innovation.
1955
John Waschak, founder of Sunvair, sets up job shop machining services in his garage.
1960
John moves into a larger facility in Sun Valley, California, and names his company Sun Valley Machine Works (later shortened to Sunvair). Over the next few decades, Sunvair will grow into a major job shop for McDonnell Douglas & Lockheed Martin.
1975
Sunvair becomes a fully-certified Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) repair station.
1988
Sunvair moves to Valencia.
2014
Sunvair Aerospace Group is formed (later shortened to Sunvair).
2016
Sunvair opens Aerospace Plating of Sunvair, an onsite facility providing industry-leading plating services. While the driving force behind this effort was in support of Sunvair Landing Gear overhaul services, it expanded to serve many Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manufacturing companies. (In 2026, Sunvair dropped the Aerospace Plating name, while keeping all of its services under the Sunvair brand name.)
2020
Sunvair receives Boeing BAC 5709 approval for its plating services.
2023
Sunvair, Inc. is selected as the first MRO in the Americas to sign an agreement with Boeing Company to overhaul its B787 landing gear.
Sunvair, Inc. receives Bell Plating Approval and adds multiple-grind lathes, and mills to expand its plating and machining capabilities.
Mingo Aerospace launches in-house CNC manufacturing, and expands HVOF services in partnership with Liebherr and Collins.
2024
Mingo Aerospace expands HVOF and grinding facilities to support A380 and B787 landing gear programs, and develops Gen3 rubber compound for cargo systems.
Sunvair, Inc. adds Eddy Current Testing onsite.
