Painter Job Description
Sunvair, Inc. located in Valencia, CA is a leading FAA- and EASA-certified aerospace MRO specializing in landing gear overhaul and repair for narrow body commercial and military aircraft. We are dedicated to quality excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in everything we do. Currently we are seeking highly motivated, skilled, and detail-oriented individuals with excellent time management skills to fill the position of Painter.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely perform preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft components under minimal supervision per work order/ traveler instructions.
- Mask, sand, and prepare components for paint application.
- Mixing of primer and paint prior to application in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
- Apply varies types of primers, fillers and sealing compounds in preparation for final painting.
- Performing quality validations such as viscosity, adhesion testing and thickness requirements.
- Ability to operate spray guns and apply topcoat to components
- Coordinate with supervisor and Inspection to ensure compliance with internal paperwork, signoffs, and quality specifications.
- Examine painted surfaces for defects, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and company standards
- Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers and corrosion-preventive chemicals and use protective equipment as required.
- Follow all safety, hazardous-material, and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, SCAQMD) and comply with clean-room or controlled-environment protocols where required. Meet target hours and schedules as set by Supervision
- Maintain regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts
Qualifications
- The ability to read, write and understand English
- Detail oriented with excellent time management skills
- Capable of moving unaided throughout the facility and lifting at least 25 lb.
- Practical experience with knowledge of industry standards, prime and customer paint specifications
- Ability to read work order/ traveler instructions, specifications, sketches and blueprints
- Ability to measure coating thicknesses
- Practical experience (3-5 years preferred) related to the procedures, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, and equipment generally used in the work for which the repair station is rated.
Work Environment
- Shop floor / Paint Booth environment within an FAA-certified landing gear repair station.
