Production Planner – Cargo & Avionics

Position Summary:

The Production Planner supports the daily and long-term planning of MRO activities by coordinating customer and internal shop WO, verifying approvals, and ensuring material readiness to meet standard TATs and delivery commitments.

This position plays a key role in aligning customer demand, shop capacity, and material flow through the SIOP process. The planner works closely with operations, supply chain, engineering, and customer support to ensure all repairs are properly authorized, efficiently processed, and compliant with both customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Work Order & Production Coordination

  • Create, release, and manage customer and internal shop work orders in the ERP system, ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and timely completion.
  • Review incoming customer repair orders to confirm repair specifications (RSs), PMA approvals, and required documentation prior to release into production.
  • Coordinate with Customer Support, Engineering, and Quality to verify that all technical and approval documentation is current and compliant.
  • Monitor WIP for both customer and internal repairs to ensure they meet standard TAT objectives.
  • Prioritize work based on due dates, material readiness, and production capacity to maintain flow through the shop.
  • Manage internal work orders for subcomponent or in-house processes to ensure they support overall assembly or repair commitments.

 

SIOP / Material & Capacity Planning

  • Participate in SIOP meetings to align repair demand, internal workload, and material availability.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain/Procurement to ensure required parts, materials, and outsourced repairs are available to meet TAT goals.
  • Track and escalate material shortages, vendor delays, or shop constraints that could impact delivery performance.
  • Provide visibility of capacity utilization and forecasted workload for future planning.

 

Customer & Compliance Support

  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with FAA, EASA, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records for traceability and audit readiness.
  • Communicate repair status, TAT updates, and delivery forecasts to Customer Support as needed.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing TAT, improving repair flow, and enhancing visibility across departments.
  • Contribute to the standardization of planning processes and documentation controls.
  • Track and report KPIs such as TAT performance, material readiness, and planning accuracy.

 

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in production planning, materials, or customer support within a FAA Part 145 repair station or aerospace MRO environment.
  • Experience managing internal and external work orders in an ERP system, Quantum preferred.
  • Familiarity with SIOP processes, capacity planning, and material flow management.
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulatory requirements, RSs, PMAs, and component traceability.
